Byre and Stable Cottages are converted stone farm buildings in a lovely situation at the head of Loch Sween. The cottages are attached to the main farmhouse where we live. Each cottage sleeps four plus a cot. There is also a bed settee in the living room for occasional use. The kitchens are fully equipped with everything you need for a self catering holiday. The living rooms have Sky Television and DVD and Video players. There is a good collection of books, magazines, maps and tourist information. The bathroom is on the ground floor and Byre Cottage has a shower while Stable Cottage has a bath and a shower. The bedrooms are on the first floor with double bed in one room (king size in Byre Cottage) and twin beds and cot in the second bedroom. Heating is provided by a log fired boiler which heats both cottages, our workshop and our house. Kirkland Lodge is a detached timber built chalet on one level with uninterrupted views of Loch Sween. It has a woodland garden visited by birds, deer and badgers. It has an excellent woodburning stove to keep you warm. Kirkland has two bedrooms, one double and one single. There is also a cot. The bathroom has a large shower. All of our accommodation is designed to give you a well equipped and comfortable holiday home to relax in whatever the weather. We are close to the famous Crinan Canal and Kilmartin Glen with it's ancient standing stones, cairns and Museum with excellent cafe and restaurant. The nearby village of Tayvallich has a coffee shop and Inn, both overlooking the picturesque harbour. This is an excellent base for touring and visiting islands such as Islay with it's famous whisky distilleries and Mull where you can see Sea Eagles. Nearer to home, we have excellent walks on empty forest roads with lots of wildlife. Deer, red squirrels, otters, seals, osprey, buzzards and heron are all common sights.
