Booking online is easy! Just follow our step by step guide below:

Finding Accommodation

We list 20,000 accommodation options throughout the UK - so with all of that choice you should find something that fits your needs perfectly.

Starting from the Home page, enter the name of the place that you want to search in the Destination box. Once you start typing in this box, we will automatically make some suggestions - just click on the one that you want to select it. Note that we do not have every destination in our system - so if the destination that you want is not listed then just choose the closest town / city or the county / region.

The search results show all accommodation options within a search radius which you can specify. Note that the larger search area that you choose the more options will be displayed (and the longer it will take for the page to fully load). If you have a slow internet connection we recommend that you keep the search radius down to 10 miles or below to ensure a speedy response.

You will also need to enter the date of the first night of your stay (tip: select from the calendar for speed) and the total number of guests in your party (note that this includes any children that will be staying with you). If you are travelling with a large group you may wish to breakdown your group into smaller groups that are willing to share the same room to give you a wider selection of options. There is no limit to how far in advance you can book, however most accommodation operators will allow bookings up to 6-12 months in advance.

You may also choose the specific type of accommodation that you are after (eg Hotel, B&B, Campsite etc). In addition you may also select a minimum star rating; ideal if you are looking for a high quality property for that special weekend! We use the Visit Britain and AA star rating schemes and also allow properties not using either of these schemes to self rate. We advise caution when looking at self rated properties as they may not give you a good indication of the quality of the establishment.

When you do a search, the results are displayed in a grid showing you all of the properties within the search radius along with the best available prices for that property for the next 21 days. Note that prices are only displayed if a property has availability on that date. Prices are automatically calculated for the number of guests in your party, are in £GBP and include VAT. All prices displayed on MyUK.Travel are guaranteed by the accommodation operator as being their best available rates - you won't need to shop around! Just click on the property link to see more details or click on the price on the day that you want to book to see further options.

You can also use the Google map to display the search results. The search radius is shown as a shaded circle on the map - if the location that you want is not covered then either expand out the search radius or choose a location that is closer. Accommodation options are displayed on the map and are colour coded according to whether they offering online booking or not - see the key just below the map. Just click on the accommodation options for more details of the property. If the map is a bit crowded then just zoom in a bit to see all options.

Booking Your Selected Accommodation

Please use the Finding Accommodation guide above to find the property that you wish to book.

Once you are on the desired property listing then how you book depends on whether the property supports online booking. If online booking is not supported then just click on the Email Us tab and complete the email enquiry section - the property will then email (or phone) you back. If the property does support online booking then click on the Book Now tab to see what rooms they can offer you along with the room availability / pricing for the next 21 days. Tick the rooms/dates that you require and click on Book Now to book those rooms.

Tip: click on the Add To Shortlist link to add this property to your shortlist - just click on the My Shortlist section on the main menu to see what you have selected. This is very handy in keeping tabs on what takes your fancy for a holiday or even just providing a convenient link to those places that you regularly book with.

You will then be shown a summary of what you have selected and what deposit (if any) you must pay to confirm the booking. You may also select additional extras that you wish to book at this stage such as meals, local tourism excursions and cot hire (depending of course whether the property offers these services).

Next, you will need to enter your personal details (name, address, telephone etc). Alternatively, you may logon using your MyUK.Travel username and password. If you do not already have an account with us then you will be asked to enter a password that you wish to use (to enable you to logon in the future). You will also need to enter your credit card details at this stage - the page is encrypted by a 128bit SSL certificate so you can be sure that this information is treated securely by us. Please note that you will need to enter your credit card details to secure the booking regardless of whether the property requires a deposit or not. Note also that MyUK.Travel does not take any money from your account - we simply hold your details securely in the system for the accommodation operator to process through their system. Note that there are no booking fees payable to MyUk.Travel. Lastly you will need to specify your approximate arrival time on the first night of your stay, tick that you have read and agree to MyUK.Travel terms and conditions, the cancellation and other policies specified by the operator, and finally detail any special requests in the box at the bottom of the page. Click on Confirm to confirm the booking (or if it is booking request to complete the request).

Your booking confirmation / request will then be displayed - we recommend that you print this out. However you can logon to My Reservations at a future date using your email address / password that you setup in the booking process to retrieve this booking at a later date). If your booking is a request - then the operator will contact you to either confirm or deny your reservation within 48hrs (although in most cases this should take only a couple of hours).

Changing / Cancelling A Booking

Please contact the accommodation operator directly to change or cancel a booking that you have made via MyUK.Travel. The contact details for the operator will be on your confirmation. The accommodation operator reserves the right to make additional charges for changes / cancellations as long as they were advised to you at time of booking.
