Optimize your website for local search

Many businesses put a lot of emphasis on SEO (search engine optimization) but often miss out on a key area – ‘Local Search’. As an accommodation provider you are a local business.

Google Business Listing - Mobile Device

The trends show that there is currently a huge increase in local search in particular from mobile devices.

The best place to start with improving your local search results is to get your business onto Google free of charge. You can do this by visiting this page Get Onto Google. Make sure you watch the video tutorials and read the Google guides to ensure you input as much info about your business as possible.

The Google Local Business listing is more than just a way for customers to find your business. Google have made it very interactive as customers can write reviews about your business and also share your business details on the Google+ social network by hitting the +1 to endorse your content.

On your Google Business listing you can add photos, videos, offers/promos and more and it is important for you to encourage your customers to write reviews that will be visible to other people viewing your listing on Google.

Google Business Places is very important as Google is the most popular search engine but don’t forget to also register your business with Yahoo Local and Bing Local too.

Your business may already have a local listing with the search engines. We would recommend you visit these search sites and search for your business by inputting your brand name and your locality (i.e. city, town or village) similar to this “Hilden House Cheltenham” and see if your business appears in the search results. On Google it will normally appear to the right of the page as highlighted in the below image.

So go and get your 'Local Search' Optimzed as this is defenitely a great way to generate direct traffic.
