Ballanorman Croft is at the end of our farm drive and is quite separate and private from the main farmhouse. It has ample parking and sits in its own garden. It is well away from the public road. The front of the Cottage is an old original Manx Cottage built of beach stone and the property has been extended and renovated to provide very comfortable Gold Standard holiday accommodation. There are three bedrooms: one double; one twin; and one single. A high-quality folding bed is available for an extra guest. The bathroom was replaced in 2017 and has a modern shower and separate bath and a large heated towel rail. There is also a downstairs cloakroom with WC. The cosy sitting room has a Clearview woodburning stove and all logs, sticks etc are provided. An enormous sofa, arm chair, and bean bag provide very comfortable seating. There is free WiFi, a modern flat screen TV with Freesat TV and DVD. The dining room is furnished with an antique pine table and 6 leather dining chairs and the sideboard holds an extensive collection of games and puzzles etc. The modern kitchen has electric oven and hob, fridge/freezer, integrated dishwasher, microwave, and washing machine. There is a bistro style coffee table plus two chairs in the kitchen next to the French windows. These open onto the south facing patio where garden furniture and a barbeque are provided during the summer. The Cottage has full central heating. Our small farm is home to the Island's only Angora and Boer goat herd. We produce Manx Mohair socks and luxury knitting yarns/ knitwear, as well as an extensive range of goat meat. Our free range grass fed hens provide wonderful eggs. We grow a range of salads throughout the year. All our produce is available for guests to purchase at discounted prices (some is included in the Cottage Welcome Pack) and we are very happy to facilitate collecting eggs, meeting the goats (bottle feeding when we have goat kids) etc.
Ballanorman is on the edge of Ballaugh Curragh, an area of special scientific interest and the first designated wetland of international importance on the Isle of Man. Close Sartfield Nature Reserve is a short walk/ cycle from the Farm and boasts over 100,000 examples of wild orchid (usually in flower in June). The Curragh Wildlife Park is also less than a mile away. The surrounding area is full of wildlife and even the wild wallabies are often spotted in the locality. Ballanorman is 1 mile from Ballaugh village centre, 1.5 miles from Ballaugh beach (designated Dark Sky Area), and less than 6 miles from Ramsey. The property is 0.5 miles outside the famous TT Course and is not affected by Course closures. Ballaugh is easy walking distance and has a comprehensive village shop (Spar), Post Office, and village pub serving great food. Ramsey offers a unique shopping experience with many small independent retailers, restaurants, pubs and cafes, and excellent leisure facilities including Mooragh Park (tennis, boating lake, fabulous children's playground and other activities), indoor swimming pool, the Island's only 10 pin bowling complex, and Ramsey Golf Club. The north of the Island has miles of unspoilt beaches, Glens, moors and uplands to explore, all easily accessible from Ballanorman Croft.
